SJ Riding Camp is committed to safety and providing the best program possible. For this reason we have undergone accreditation by the American Camp Association. This means that our entire operation has been reviewed by this organization on almost 300 standards — from staff qualifications and training, to program quality, safety practices, and emergency management. These standards require the most up-to-date, research-based practices in camp operation.
While the American Camp Association specializes in camps, the Certified Horsemanship Association specializes in horsemanship programs. They are a national organization that emphasizes safety in teaching riding and they offer instructor certification clinics and accreditation of sites. We are accredited by CHA and our instructors are CHA certified.
We are, of course, also inspected and licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health and are a member of the Connecticut Camping Association. CCA is a nonprofit organization that promotes good camping practices and works closely with the Department of Public Health and the American Camping Association.
