Extra Riding

Extra Riding

We offer numerous opportunities for campers who would like to ride more than our included twice daily lessons. These extra riding opportunities are considered optional add-ons and may be purchased by mail, or during check-in at camp.

You can find prices on our Getting Ready For Camp page.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons

Many of our campers choose to sign up for private or semi-private lessons for their time at camp. These lessons are a great opportunity to develop more advanced skills and techniques or even just to tackle old equitation problems or questions. It’s also a great way for beginners to jump start their riding skills.

Campers may work in the ring, or head out to the X-Country course. Working one-on-one or in a small group of 2 or 3 is a great way to improve riding skills more quickly. Some campers take one a session, while others take a few per week.

Show N’ Learn Horseshow and Horse Trials

These are offered during our 2 and 3 week sessions. Campers may enter either or both of these. The Show’n Learn consists of three classes in each division with ribbons given out for each class. The Show ‘n Learn operates just like a regular schooling show, with the major difference being that the judge gives instruction throughout the show. This is a great beginning show experience as well as a way for girls more experienced in showing to learn what a judge is looking for.

The 3-Phase Horse Trial (Event) consists of a dressage Test, Cross-country, and Show Jumping phase. The Cross-country course consists of about 14 jumps on our cross country field and in the woods and we offer two different levels. The dressage test is a beginner novice test and campers learn it before show day. The show jumping phase is also offered in two different levels.

Video Eventing Clinic

This is s special program where riders get an extended lesson in x-country, show jumping, and dressage that is videotaped. After the lesson the students get a chance to watch their riding in each area and the instructor can point out what the rider did well and what needs to be improved. This can be a stand-alone program or as practice for the Show ‘n Learn Horse Trials.
