Meet Our Leadership Team

Laura Chandra | Owner & Director

Laura has been a part of the SJ community since 1988, when she attended as a camper. Now as owner, she is excited to continue the SJ traditions that make our camp so special. Laura holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and a graduate degree in Financial Planning. She has a young son, Sebastian, who loves taking “uber” rides in the camp golf carts and a dog named Pepe, who you can usually find taking a dip in the lake.

Kelsey Tuttle | Associate Director

Kelsey holds a Bachelors degree in Adventure Education Leadership and various certifications such as: ACA Level 2 Kayak Instructor, USA Archery Instructor, and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor. She has a senior dog, Smokey, who was raised in a camp environment and is certified in being a good boy. Her hobbies include fiber arts, DIYing anything, and hiking.

Julia Parlapiano | Barn Director

Julia joined the SJ community in 2018 when she started as a camper. She is currently studying health sciences at Sacred Heart University, where she also rides and competes with their Equestrian Team. Julia loves her horse, Maybe, who is a former SJ attendee as well. You will usually find her at the barn, either taking care of the horses or helping campers.

Sarah Baez | Office Manager

Sarah comes to us with a background in Retail Management and a degree in Elementary Education. Although she is newer to camp life, she is all about learning what makes this community so special. She loves all things pink, reading, playing with monster trucks with her son Max and being a “mouseka-doer”. She is also obsessed with her brindle pup Loki.

Rachel Cronin | Health Director

Rachel is an RN, BSN who works full time as the resource nurse in her children’s school district and delivers babies on a per diem basis. Despite holding other jobs, Rachel’s favorite time of year is the time she gets to spend at camp with her daughter and some of her favorite people. She enjoys coaching soccer, playing soccer and basketball in several adult leagues and spending most of her free time at the barn with her favorite warmblood, Vino. Rachel has three growing children, a wonderfully tolerant husband, two dogs (including a brand new lab pup) and one trouble-making orange kitty.

Katie Eagleston | Riding Program Director

Katie has a BS in Equine Management and an AS in Marketing. She competed in IHSA and IDA in college and has experience competing in Hunters, Jumpers, and Dressage. Katie owned an equine facility, managed large hunter/jumper facilities, and started a large summer camp program. She has also taught at the college level and is CHA certified level 4 English and level 2 Western. She speaks at Dressage 4 Kids educational weekends and is currently starting her 4 year old gelding under saddle!
